Atmaca M~~Kuloglu M~~et al
Cholesterol & leptin levels of 16 patients with borderline personality disorder in whom impulsivity, aggressive behaviours, & suicide attempts were established, were compared with those of 16 healthy controls. The mean cholesterol & leptin levels of the patient group were significantly lower than those of the controls. Likewise, the patients with current suicide ideation & a history of suicide attempt had statistically significantly lower cholesterol & leptin levels compared with the patients without those features. Low serum cholesterol & leptin levels were not associated with the presence & severity of comorbid depression. (30 refs.)
