This article briefly reviews the risks of Internet chat rooms for adolescents with suicide ideation. Problems include variable quality in forums & chat rooms, sites providing details of methods, & contagion or imitative learning. The authors recommend site owners should know & follow media guidelines for preventing imitative suicide & that caregivers take more interest in what adolescents are accessing on the Internet.
