This article is a review of BarakÁøs study, Á¡Increasing Risk of Attempted Suicide Among Aging Holocaust Survivors.Á± After the Holocaust, Israel received the largest group of holocaust survivors. A much higher amount of Jews than the host population were found in mental hospitals. The relationship between their suicidality & their holocaust experience went unrecorded until the 1960s. Barak is the first to seriously explore suicidality in Holocaust survivors. (2 refs.)(CH)
