With the loss of a youth to death by suicide in 1989, a small community was spurred to react. By 1991, 100 Mile House, British Columbia formed a suicide prevention task force. For a time the task force struggled with its memberships & funding but with another death by suicide in 2000, they took action again. A new energy was produced, as well as a new organization name: the Suicide Prevention Advisory Committee (SPAC). SPAC continued the important work started by the task force. (LC)
