Reports of all deaths by suicide & attempted deaths by suicide among the Israeli Jewish population between 1962-1963 were reviewed. During this period, 322 deaths by suicide and 1258 attempted deaths by suicide were recorded. Evidence showed that death by suicide was more prevalent among males, with the rate rising with age. Also, death by suicide was more common in the Israeli & European born residents, while attempted death by suicide was more common among the African & Asian born. (LC) (9 refs)
