Saving Lives in New York: Suicide Prevention and Public Health, vol.1: Challenges, Strategy and Policy Recommendations

This report represents the New York State Office of Mental Health’s response to the Surgeon General’s Call to Action (1999). 88 specific action steps are recommended in the body of the report, most of which are targeted to a specific set of risk factors & populations. 30 other, overarching recommendations are also included, directed by 4 major goals: 1) to improve access to mental health care & services; 2) to enhance identification of persons at risk; 3) to restrict access to means of self-harm; & 4) to save lives through research.
