Suicide Postvention: Support for Families, Whanau and Significant Others After a Suicide – a Literature Review and Synthesis of Evidence

This report was commissioned by the New Zealand Ministry of Youth Development to summarize current evidence-based knowledge about bereavement by suicide & related services. It consists of 3 papers: the first presents an overview of the literature on suicide bereavement & develops a tentative series of best practice recommendations about the provision of bereavement services; the second contextualizes the findings in relation to New Zealand data; & the third draws together the key themes identified in papers 1 & 2 to lay the foundations for a series of policy recommendations regarding possible strategies for addressing suicide bereavement issues.
