The objectives of this paper were to, among adolescents aged 14 to 20, (1) estimate the 12-month prevalence of various suicidal behaviours by gender, (2) identify the gender-specific factors associated with suicidal behaviours, & (3) describe health service utilization by adolescents with suicidal behaviours. The authors found that some factors associated with suicidal behaviours among adolescents were gender specific, & that most suicidal adolescents in the study population had not sought help from a health professional.
