This paper is broken down into 4 parts. The first traces the history & development of the right to die in America; the second addresses the individual & collective ethical implications surrounding the physician-assisted suicide (PAS) debate in the U.S.; the third considers the additional dangers presented by the rise of the managed care health care environment that currently exists; & the fourth explores attempts by states & countries to regulate PAS to ensure that physicians do not irresponsibily engage in the practice.
