Individual and Societal Forms of Violence Against Women in the US and the Developing World: an Overview

This paper reviews individual & societal forms of violence against women in the US & throughout the world in order to assist readers in recognizing & managing these phenomenon & to encourage them to advocate locally & nationally for solutions to public health & human rights issues facing women worldwide. Suicide is discussed as an outcome of violence against women in various circumstances, including murder-suicide, “vengeance” suicide against an abusive spouse, & post-rape suicide. (90 refs)
