Physician-Assisted Suicide Permits Dignity in Dying: Oregon Takes on Attorney General Ashcroft

This article analyzes American legislature regarding physician-assisted suicide. The author disputes Attorney General AshcroftÕs assertion that OregonÕs Death With Dignity Act, which allows physician-assisted suicide, is in opposition to the Controlled Substance Act. Information regarding the historical prohibition of physician-assisted suicide in America, the content of OregonÕs Death With Dignity Act, & the Attorney GeneralÕs argument (that OregonÕs Death With Dignity Act should be quashed because it is contrary to the Controlled Substance Act) is included.
