The author considers nuclear weapons & the arms race to be a form of mass suicide. The article addresses dimension of power & safety in several political frameworks. It also discusses how superpowers would prefer that other superpowers would disappear, & how each has come to the realization that this is impossible short of mutual annihilation. Methods such as “detente” & arms control are identified as the way to keep peaceful co-existence in the world. Factors which could disrupt global peace are discussed.
