This article examines the special issues surrounding a parent informing a child that their other deceased parent’s death was a suicide. The article questions the notion that there are destructive consequences to not disclosing the suicidal nature of a parents death to a child. It also examines the differences between being told & knowing about the suicidal death of a parent. The article discusses the nature & effects of surviving parent explanatory frameworks on suicide.
