This paper reflects on the circumstances in contemporary ethical discouse concerning legalization of physician-assisted suicide & voluntary active euthanasia that led to the use of the charge that these practises will become equivalent to the Nazi euthanasia program in which over 73,000 handicapped children & adults were killed without consent. The author offers reasons for putting the Nazi charge aside in contemporary discussions of physician-assisted suicide & voluntary active euthanasia.
