Manipulate Suicide (IN: The Least Worst Death: Essays in Bioethics on the end of Life, by Margaret Pabst Battin)
Battin M P
In this article the author argues that the notion of rational suicide gives rise to the possibility of large-scale manipulation of suicide, & the maneuvering of persons into choosing suicide when they would not otherwise have done so. She presents possible mechanisms of manipulation, including circumstantial manipulation & ideological manipualtion, & explors the role of current circumstantial & ideological change in the risk of future manipulation. As well, she explores the moral dilemma that may arise as a response to manipulation.
