This chapter examines the psychology of suicide through an emergent model in which suicide is viewed as a conscious decision that is part of a process outside of awareness, a process in which self-deception may, for some, play a prominent & ultimately lethal role. Further work is needed in the area of self-deception & suicide to explore & understand this potentially deadly link in the apparent similiarity of thinking & defensive strategy. (126 refs.)
