The goal of this training manual is to focus on primary & secondary survivors as well as the tertiary victims who must deal with the aftermath of suicide. First, it focuses on ways in which tertiary victims – the professionals who respond to the scene of a suicide – impact primary survivors such as parents, siblings, spouses, & children. Second, it speaks to the way in which professionals on the scene impact secondary survivors such as friends, neighbours, & other relatives present immediately following a suicide. Third, this manual focusses on ways in which tertiary victims can care for themselves in the face of the numerous traumatic occurrences encountered by the emergency call centre, police, fire, emergency medical services, & coroner professions.
