Abstract
Response to Colin Murray Parkes’ Comments on my Article “Developing a Cross-Cultural Model of Grief”
Klass D
In this article, Klass responds to comments made by Parkes on his model of cross-cultural grief. Klass says Parkes has not proposed a third alternative but rather restates & defends the proposition that attachment theory, as formulated by Bowlby, explains much of the human response to significant deaths in all cultures. Klass raises 3 questions about Parkes’ view of attachment theory. He also raises other questions about Parkes’ arguments but welcomes Parkes’ contribution to the discussion & study of cross-cultural grief. (11 refs.)
