79 patients who completed suicide in the University Psychiatric Hospital in Ljubljana, Slovenia from 1984-1993 were included in a study looking for commonalities among these patients. Suicidal patients with schizophrenia & affective psychoses were compared to a matched control group. Predictors of suicide among patients with affective psychoses & schizophrenia were depression & lack of insight, in addition to past suicidal behaviour & poor family relationships in patients with schizophrenia.
