This study examined the extent to which gay, lesbian & bisexual young people are at increased risk of psychiatric disorder & suicidal behaviours. Data were gathered during a 21-year longitudinal study of a birth cohort of 1265 New Zealand children. Over the period from age 14-21 years, data was collected on a range of psychiatric disorders, suicidal ideation & attempts. Gay, lesbian & bisexual young people were at increased risks of various psychiatric disorders, suicidal ideation & attempts.
