Hewitt P L~~Norton G R~~et al
A sample of 39 inpatients with alcoholism who had made a serious suicide attempt were compared to 39 inpatients with alcoholism who had no history of suicide attempts. The attempter group had higher scores of socially prescribed perfectionism, generalized hopelessness, achievement hopelessness, social hopelessness, & depression. Depression, social hopelessness, social prescribed perfectionism, & other-oriented perfections were unique discriminators of the suicide groups. (66 refs.)
