This book describes the Mental Health Strategy developed for nurses in the Scottish Prison Service. Key issues of this strategy are given. General care principles related to suicide are listed, including the importance of creating a safe environment & supporting prisoners in crisis. Goals of the strategy’s referral & assessment systems, systems for treatment & advocacy, and the Nurse Training Strategy are provided.
