This article relates the case of a middle-aged man who was brought to a New York City emergency room after attempting suicide. The patient refused to divulge his name or any other identifying information. The hospital had to get a court order to allow them to treat the patient because he also refused medication. Just prior to leaving the hospital, the patient revealed his name to his lawyer & his psychiatrist. He later sent a postcard to hospital staff to thank them for their help.
