The Power of Ritual and Suicide Prevention: a Multidisciplinary Exploration

The use of ritual in suicide prevention was explored in this workshop. A brief presentation of ideas & concepts of ritual in western culture was followed by examples of programs which incorporate the use of rituals. Participants had the opportunity to work cross-culturally & multi-disciplinary in a process of ritual development. The loss of ritual in western culture & the effect this has had on suicide rates was explored. Directions for further research & practice were suggested.
