In studies of suicide in Great Britain, data for England & for Wales are often combined. The present study explored whether the time-series suicide rate in Wales is similarly associated with social indicators as the English suicide rate. Marriage & birth rates were significantly associated with the English suicide rate from 1964 to 1985. These two social indicators were not associated with the Welsh suicide rate. (2 refs.)
