Strategies for School-Based Response to Loss: Proactive Training and Postvention Consultation

This article describes development, implementation, & initial evaluation of a high school postvention program in a 3-county area of greater Chicago. The program integrates public health, epidemiological, psychiatric, & postvention paradigms to provide a comprehensive approach to the aftermath of adolescent suicide. Organizational issues such as a systematic school entry, computerized school database, proactive training, & collaboration with medical examiners & coroners, are described.(47 Refs.)
