Suicidal Behaviour in HIV Infection: a Case-Control Study of Deliberate Self-Harm in People With HIV Infection
Catalan J~~Seijas D~~et al
22 HIV-infected people who had harmed themselves were compared with a matched control group of non-HIV infected individuals. Results of the study showed that people with HIV infection who were referred to a general hospital following self-harm differed from the general population of self-harm patients & the controls in several ways. HIV-patients included more gay/bisexual men & were more likely to be unemployed. They more commonly had a psychiatric history & a current diagnosis of depression.
