2 studies were conducted with sexually abused girls referred to a university outpatient clinic for 6 sessions of psychoeducationally based individual counselling (alternately assigned to either a male or female counsellor). There were no significant effects for sex of counsellor revealed, although a significant improvement was found in girls’ participation in counselling across the 6 treatment sessions. Administered were the Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept scale & the CDI.
