What’s in a Word? The Results of a Roper Poll of Americans on how They View the Importance of Language in the Debate Over the Right to Choose to die
Humphry D~~ERGO! Euthanasia Research & Guidance Organization
This booklet presents the results of a Roper Poll of Americans on how they view the importance of language in the debate over the right to choose to die. In interviews, Roper’s staff asked 1000 people if they would vote for a law couched in blunt language, and a different 1000 if they would vote for a law couched in euphemisms. The euphemisms won, but only narrowly, in a range of 6-10%.
