Abstract
Restricting the Availability of Alcohol and Rates of Personal Violence (Suicide and Homicide)
Lester D
Statistical analyses were performed on data collected by Colon et al (1982) concerning alcohol availability variables in all US states & social & demographic variables. Death rates from cirrhosis were higher in more urban states & in those with weaker alcohol restrictions. Suicide rates were higher in states where alcohol restrictions were weaker & where the percentage of divorced & widowed men was greater. Homicide rates were higher in states with stronger alcohol restrictions. (6 refs.)
