To determine the incidence of non-fatal firearm injuries in the Ottawa area, the charts of all children admitted to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for firearm injuries in the last 15 years were reviewed. A total of 18 cases were identified – 13 of the gunshot injuries were unintentional. 2 injuries resulted from suicide attempts, both by 14-year-old males. (12 refs.)
