Comorbidity was used to assess psychopathological distress with respect to depression, problem drinking & suicide among 2 American Indian tribes in the northwest US. 20 people were interviewed on their experiences with depression. 12 had suffered from major depressive disorder (MDD), and all respondents had problem drinking, at some point in their lives. 8 respondents had previously attempted suicide. 4 of these attempters had concurrently comorbid MDD & problem drinking.
