Abstract
Gender Role in Adolescent Suicidal Behavior: Observations and Therapeutic Implications
Gasquet I~~Choquet M
This article reports on 2 epidemiological studies in France. A comparison by sex of hospitalized adolescent suicide attempters with a school population of non-suicidal adolescents (same age group) shows greater differences in areas of school failure, psychosomatic & distress-related symptoms, & substance abuse between suicidal & non-suicidal boys than between suicidal & non-suicidal girls. On admission, more boys than girls are sent to psychiatric wards & proposed follow-up care. (47 Refs.)
