This article describes American reaction to a conference in which 7 Dutch physicians described Netherland practices in regard to euthanasia. Some of the Dutch shocked American doctors with their admissions of involuntary euthanasia of patients who had been placed in a coma with morphia (after developing a tolerance to its pain-relieving qualities). The author also debates whether active euthanasia is a job for physicians, if killing can be healing, & whether the Dutch model could be imported.
