Chapter
A Crisis Intervention Model (IN: Planning to Live: Evaluating and Treating Suicidal Teens in Community Settings, ed. by M J Rotheram-Borus et al)
McCoard W D
This chapter is divided into 2 parts, the first of which shares the experience of an agency in dealing with the suicide of a client. It explains how the agency endured this crisis & was able to maintain a supportive, open environment necessary to help other potentially suicidal youth. The 2nd part of this chapter describes a crisis intervention model which has been found effective with youth at risk for suicide. This model provides staff with the tools with which to intervene in a crisis.
