Public perception of 17 health problems was assessed in Arizona. Drug abuse, health care costs & drunk driving were considered the most serious problems. There was less concern with the lack of clinical services for high-risk groups such as suicidal adolescents. The author notes that findings should be interpreted with caution; e.g., the high percentage of adults who think that adolescent suicide is not a problem may be due to a lack of awareness of the number of cases of teenage suicide.
