Reports the case of a 37 year old female with a personality disorder & chronic dysthymia who developed a dependence on MAOIs. The subject had attempted suicide numerous times in the past & after severe financial troubles, completed suicide by overdosing on MAOIs at the age of 37. The features of MAOI dependence & their resemblance to amphetamine dependence are discussed. (8 refs.)
