This study is bases on the premise that totalitarian societies may cause fatalistic suicides & homicides. The author examines the government sanctions of a number of industrialized countries, & found that government sanctions were related to homicide rates, but not to suicide rates. These results contest Stack’s theory of fatalistic suicide, but collaborate Henry & Short’s argument that external pressures & homicide are associated. (VM)
