Suicide Prevention: is it Working in the Federal Prison System?

This article provides a statistical picture of prison suicide, including gender, race, method, place, time of day & year, psychiatric/suicidal history, sentence length, & age. The authors also present the results of a questionnarie sent out to chief psychologists at prisons to determine their satisfaction with prevention programs. Most were highly satisfied. The 3 main components of prevention are: program coordinators, training, & inmate companions. (VM)
