Presents a longitudinal study of 50,465 young men in Sweden who committed suicide. The author explores psychiatric illness, & social & behavioral risk factors using multivariate analysis. Mental illness requiring inpatient treatment proved to be the most powerful indicator of suicide. Poor social background, deviant behavior, substance abuse & disrupted relations also were found to be important factors. (VM)
