A Controlled Comparative Analysis of 1000 Cases Taken From the Files of Ten Different Suicide Prevention Centers in the United States of America
Whittemore K R
The author compares data gathered from 10 suicide prevention centres throughout the United States. Using standardized data forms & methodology, information was gathered on 100 calls to each of the centres over a six week period (May-June 1970). 78% of the calls referred to suicide attempts in process; 62% were from the attempters themselves. Data is reviewed on 6 different measures: suicidal involvement, anonymity, referrals, caller identity, alcohol involvement, & follow-up. (NBB)
