The authors report the findings of a demographic & personality study of suicidal behavior at Bronx State Day Hospital. Patients were either those hospitalized previously who still needed extensive care or those not in need of full time hospitalization but who were not yet functioning well. 63% had suicidal behavior as a major symptom. The authors compare one case of suicide & one case of a suicidal schizophrenic who appears to be improving in this setting.
