The author reports the case of a 24-year-old male who committed suicide by asphyxia due to compression. The man had arranged a bootmaker’s iron boot last & a bed in such a manner that the whole weight of the bed pressed upon the victim’s throat. Masochistic overtones, the question of temporary insanity, & accidental death are discussed. (NBB)
