This study of suicide in young people is based on 1975-81 statistical data from Oslo, Norway. A total of 148 suicides (110 males 38 females) were registered by the Norwegian Central Bureau of Statistics. Autopsies were performed in 97% of this sample. An increase in suicides took place during the time period studied. The ratio of males to females was 3:1. Tables 1-4 provide comparative data for 4 Nordic countries; Tables 5-10 provide epidemiologic & demographic information from the Oslo sample.
