Study to examine the relationships between hostility, control and attempted suicide. Research hypotheses are presented to test the idea that suicide attempters can be divided into overcontrolled to undercontrolled personality types using the MMPI (O-H) scale on 79 adult psychiatric patients. (KB)

A study of 2,543 patients admitted during the last ten years suggests most suicidal attempts are symptoms of a temporary imbalance in the patient’s psychodynamic equilibrium rather than due to more serious and chronic psychiatric disorders.
