The association of adverse childhood experiences and appetitive aggression with suicide attempts and violent crimes in male forensic psychiatry inpatients.

The relationship between childhood trauma, suicide attempts and violence was tested. Suicide attempts and violent crimes were predicted by appetitive aggression. Appetitive aggression was correlated with experiences of peer physical violence. Adverse childhood experiences ÒtriggeredÓ suicide attempts, but not violence.
