Suicidal ideation in patients with chronic pain: The risk-benefit of pharmacotherapy.

Patients with chronic pain tend to be complex and frequently present with significant psychiatric comorbidities. As compared to the general population, patients who experience chronic pain have a higher rate of mood and anxiety disorders and the occurrence of suicidal ideation is not inconsequential in this patient population.
