Clinical Points 1. Depression is not limited to individuals. It is also contagious and may extend to people who are close to the patient. 2. Effective interventions for a patientÕs depression may also reduce stress, depressiveness, and suicidality in the patientÕs close interpersonal network. 3. In addition to the individual patient, clinicians should take into account the patientÕs interpersonal network when treating depression.
