This report by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs follows a two-year study which examined the rate and nature of suicides by American veterans. The study finds that approximately 22 veterans per days are committing suicide. Those who do tend to be more than 50 years old, suggesting the increase is not driven by veterans returning from Iraq or Afghanistan.
