This report outlines the strategic plan for the prevention of suicide in Santa Clara County, California. It opens with a review of the impact of suicide in Santa Clara County, what the Suicide Prevention Advisory Committee did, & what the Committee learned. The next part of the report summarizes local needs & is followed by the Committee’s recommendations for prevention. 5 interconnected strategies are put forward: implement & coordinate suicide prevention & intervention programs & services for targeted high-risk populations; implement a community education & information campaign; develop local best practices to improve media coverage & public dialogue; implement policy & governance advocacy to promote systems change; & establish a robust data collection & monitoring system.
